Belize is located on the east coast of Central America just beneath Mexico’s Peninsula.  It is bordered by Guatemala to the west and south.  Its pristine landmass includes over 200 islands located along the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere.  

The official language of Belize is English and Spanish is widely spoken.  It has a diverse population of about 250,000 people comprised of Creole, Mestizo, Garifuna, Chinese, Caucasian and Arabic.

Belize’s climate is sub-tropical and the average annual temperature is 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Industry
Belize is fast expanding into Tourism and has been featured in many popular magazines as one of the best destinations for people interested in adventure and eco-tourism. Belize’s main industry comprises of tourism, citrus, sugar, aquaculture which generates a large portion of the country’s foreign exchange and employment.  In addition, it is rapidly expanding into offshore banking.

The local currency is the Belize dollar with a fixed exchange rate of BZ$2.00 equaling US$1.00.
